Osaka-based singer-songwriter LMYK will be performing the ending theme song for the upcoming second season of VINLAND SAGA. The ending theme is titled “Without Love” and will be released on all music streaming platforms on February 7, 2023.

A limited edition physical CD package, bundled with a DVD containing the VINLAND SAGA ending animation and a music video for the single, will be released on March 1, 2023. 

Produced by American R&B producers Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, “Without Love” was specially created for the second season of VINLAND SAGA. LMYK sings of love, loss, and freedom in her song, which is also used in the anime’s latest trailer that was released this week. 

LMYK’s first full-length album DESSERTS is slated for release on March 29, 2023 and will include “Without Love” as part of its tracklist. It will also include the single “0 (zero),” the first ending theme for The Case Study of Vanitas, and “Unity,” the theme song for the Japanese dub of the Chinese animated film The Legend of Hei.

LMYK was born to a Japanese mother and a German father and grew up in Osaka. While attending college in New York City, she started writing music and performing, where her music soon caught the attention of legendary music producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. Many of her songs feature a seamless blend of both Japanese and English lyrics. 

VINLAND SAGA season two is set to premiere on January 9, 2022. Netflix and Crunchyroll will stream the show outside of Japan. 

The official anime website describes the synopsis as: 

A new millennium begins in the southern part of the Jutland peninsula in Denmark. After the death of his longtime enemy, Askeladd, Thorfinn lost his purpose in life. He was bought by the landowner Ketil as a “slave” and engaged in land reclamation work on his farm.

Thorfinn meets a young man there, Einar, who was also a slave like him. The encounter of Einar led Thorfinn to face the sins he had committed and began to find meaning in life.

On the other hand, Canute, who became the King of England, attempted to extend his territory for the establishment of “the promised land.”
