#Abigail Spencer to return to ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ in Season 18

Megan Hunt is returning to the Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital.

Abigail Spencer is coming back to portray the character on “Grey’s Anatomy” in a recurring role capacity for the series’ upcoming Season 18.

Spencer, 40, will first appear in the ABC medical drama during the show’s season premiere on Sept. 30.

Megan is the younger sister of Dr. Owen Hunt (played by Kevin McKidd), who is also a trauma surgeon. She was declared dead after she went missing for a decade during the Iraq War.

In the Season 13 finale as well as the premiere of the following season, she was freed from being a hostage and moved to Seattle. Once she saw her brother again and he operated on her wounds, she reconnected with her fiancé Nathan (Martin Henderson). The pair then moved to Los Angeles to live happily ever after with her adopted son, Farouk.

She also made another guest appearance in Season 15.

Also returning to Seattle’s most dramatic hospital is Dr. Addison Montgomery, portrayed by Kate Walsh, who will reprise her character in a multi-episode arc during Season 18. Walsh’s Addison is the famed gynecologist who was married to Dr. Derek “McDreamy” Shepherd and later left the long-running series to star in her own spinoff.

Dr. Montgomery left the Evergreen State for sunny Los Angeles to star in ABC’s “Private Practice.” The “Grey’s Anatomy” spinoff aired from 2007 until 2013 and followed Addison as she worked alongside her friends in a health and wellness office.

Season 17 saw the loss of stars Giacomo Gianniotti, Greg Germann and Jesse Williams as they departed the show. Original cast members Ellen Pompeo, Chandra Wilson and James Pickens Jr. are still set to appear in the upcoming season.
