#A brief history of LG’s weird and wonderful Android phones

Yesterday, South Korean tech company LG announced that it’s stepping away from smartphone manufacturing. The firm was one of the first adopters of Android, and came out with a device running the Cupcake version in 2009.

While LG made some solid phones over the years, its mounting losses forced the company to throw in the towel. We might not see any LG-branded phone in the future, so let’s take a trip down memory lane and take a look at the company’s wacky and wonderful phones.

LG GW620

The LG GW620 or the LG Eve was the company’s first Android phone, released in 2009. It had a resistive touchscreen and a slide-out keyboard that you could use in landscape mode. At launch, it was running Android Cupcake 1.5 software. There’s not something super unique about it, but being the first one counts, right?

LG G Flex and G Flex 2

In 2013, The Korean company released its first phone with a flexible curved display and “self-healing” back, claiming that it could repair minor anomalies on its own. The firm released the successor called the G Flex 2 in 2015 with a 6-inch full HD screen and updated hardware.
