The Toei Animation YouTube channel has released a brief video that teases the official announcement of a new original animation in spring of 2023 at a virtual space event.

The video includes a look at a teaser visual, which features a short-haired pistol-wielding girl clad in a futuristic-looking leotard and boots. 

The new anime was first teased by Seiji Mizushima (Beatless and D4DJ First Mix director) in July 2021. Mizushima revealed at the time that the show would reunite him with Nitroplus’ Gen Urobuchi (Puella Magi Madoka Magica series composer) and illustrator Masatsugu Saitou (Eureka: Eureka Seven Hi-Evolution co-main designer). The three of them had previously served as director, scriptwriter, and character designer respectively on 2014’s Toei Animation-produced Expelled from Paradise sci-fi action movie.

Nitroplus, which was co-credited with Toei Animation with the original concept for Expelled from Paradise, has its name attached to the new project as well.

The first teaser visual for the anime, which Mizushima uploaded with his 2021 tweet, featured what appeared to be a deep ravine with installations at the sides.
