#Why Women Kill Gets Canceled at Paramount+ After Two Seasons

“Why Women Kill Gets Canceled at Paramount+ After Two Seasons”

Another series has just bitten the dust as Paramount+ is pulling the plug on Why Women Kill. As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, the series had previously been renewed for season 3 with the order for another season coming in back in December. However, the streamer has opted not to move forward with season 3 of Why Women Kill after all, officially canceling the show after two seasons with plans to shoot the third season nixed.

“Paramount+ has made the difficult decision not to move forward with season 3 of Why Women Kill,” a statement from Paramount+ reads. “We would like to thank our partners at CBS Studios and Imagine Television Studios, the amazing creator and showrunner Marc Cherry and the incredible writers, cast, and crew for two memorable seasons.”

The series stars Lucy Liu, Ginnifer Goodwin, and Kirby Howell-Baptiste with other cast members including Sam Jaeger, Sadie Calvano, Jack Davenport, Alexandra Daddario, Reid Scott, Allison Tolman, Lana Parrilla, B.K. Why Women Kill Was Supposed to Return for Season 3

Why Women Kill follows three women in three different decades who’ve all resided in the same mansion, each of them experiencing infidelity in their marriages in different ways as well. Something else they have in common is that these instances of infidelity invariably lead to a death caused by a woman. The series debuted with fairly mixed reviews, garnering a 67% score at Rotten Tomatoes, though season 2 had improved significantly with a score of 83% fresh.

Obviously, it will be disappointing for fans to learn that the show has suddenly ended when season 3 had been expected. Those who worked on the series will no doubt also be disappointed. As for why exactly the show has been axed, that’s not clear, though Paramount+ execs seemed to be pretty optimistic about its future when the season 3 renewal had been announced.

“We’re so excited that the audience for the series continues to grow, with the second season of Why Women Kill ranking within the top 10 series on Paramount+ in terms of both overall engagement and new subscriber acquisition,” Nicole Clemens, President of Paramount+ Original Scripted Series, said in a statement at the time. “We can’t wait to share the new cast of riveting, scandalous characters Marc Cherry has created when the series returns for its third season.”

You can stream Why Women Kill on Paramount+, but know there won’t be a third season coming.
