Joe Biden’s campaign raised a whopping $26 million in the 24 hours after announcing Sen. Kamala Harris as his running mate, the presumptive Democratic nominee said.

Speaking to donors Wednesday evening at a virtual fundraiser, Biden said that 150,000 donations came from first-time contributors to the campaign.

The former vice president, who announced the California Democrat as his running mate on Tuesday, said that the fundraising figures showed the energy that was behind Harris (D-Calif.).

“It’s really palpable, the excitement,” he said.

Wednesday night’s fundraiser alone brought in $9.6 million from just over 200,000 donors.

During their first joint press briefing Wednesday, Biden made similar remarks about the reaction to Harris joining the ticket.

“I have no doubt that I picked the right person to join me as the next vice president of the United States of America, and that’s Sen. Kamala Harris. And it seems Americans all across this nation, at least at the outset here, agree with me,” the presumptive Democratic nominee told reporters in Wilmington, Delaware.

TJ Ducklo, the Biden campaign press secretary, confirmed the fundraising numbers in a tweet Wednesday.

ActBlue, Democrats’ major donation-processing platform, also reported a record number of donations between 4 and 8 p.m. Tuesday, just after Harris joined the ticket. During that time, Democrats raked in $10.8 million.

In contrast, ActBlue had processed $2.3 million in donations during that same four-hour period on Monday, according to the New York Times.
