The New York City St. Patrick’s Day Parade returns for the first time in full since 2019.
When the coronavirus pandemic began in March 2020, the St. Patrick’s Day Parade was one of the first major NYC events to be cancelled on March 10. It was the first time in the parade’s 261-year history it was shut down.

The best views of the parade will be along 5th Avenue, according to the parade’s website. The parade is set to begin precisely at 11 am, but parade attendees are encouraged to get there early to secure good spots view the event.
The parade will also observe a moment of silence at 12 pm, dedicated to both the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks and the victims of the coronavirus pandemic. New York Cardinal Timothy Dolan will commemorate the moment with a prayer at the steps of St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Midtown.
The parade is scheduled to go on rain or shine. According to the website, “the parade has marched in a variety of meteorologic conditions that have included various examples of inclemency.” Unfortunately, the forecast for Manhattan shows a chance for light rain most of the day between 7 am and 9 pm, according to AccuWeather.
For those who cannot attend in person, the parade will also be broadcast by NBC 4 and livestreamed on their website. The broadcast will also be available on Hulu and YouTube.
