#AP’s double standard on ‘walkout’ lawmakers, Reuters shills for AOC and more

Diary of disturbing disinformation and dangerous delusions:

Spot the difference:

We say: When GOP legislators stage a walkout to block a bill, the Associated Press declares they’ve ground governing to a halt, creating a “political crisis.” When Democratic lawmakers do it, AP salutes their supposed suffering: “All seem to be operating on minimal sleep.” Not once does the nearly 1,200-word piece explain why the Texas bill is “restrictive” — because it’s not.

These tweets:

We say: Is Reuters an independent international news agency or an enthusiastic shill for an uber-partisan lawmaker? It was hard to tell one day this week, when it tweeted ads for, errrr, news of AOC’s online shop slinging anti-capitalist goods at least eight times, breathlessly telling us the progressive firebrand “has star power rarely seen in Congress.”

NBC ran a headline talking about reported COVID deaths of Republican voters.

We say: Are Republican voters really hit the hardest? Usually the media emphasize that black and indigenous Americans have suffered the worst COVID death rates, but they’ll shift gears when it suits their narrative — which now seeks to pin the virus surge on vaccine-hesitant right-wingers. Yet counties that voted for President Donald Trump last year have higher vaccination rates than, for example, the African-American community, which makes up a big part of the Democratic base.

This statement:

“These steps will enhance our productivity, raising wages without raising prices, and won’t increase inflation. It will take the pressure off of inflation.”

We say: At least the prez finally admits there is inflation. But he still can’t see that injecting trillions into the economy is the biggest cause — he wants to spend even more, claiming “more people will enter the workforce” if the feds pony up for child care and paid leave. But 3.24 million Americans remain on the dole because Biden’s weekly $300 supplement makes it more worthwhile to stay home, creating labor shortages that also contribute to higher prices.
