“#Penguindrum Compilation Anime Film Gets Crowdfunded in 150 Seconds”
Last night saw the crowdfunding campaign for the Penguindrum 10th anniversary compilation film go live, asking fans to help out with easing the burden of production as well promotional costs and goods for fans. It seems that fans are more than a little excited for the film, titled RE:cycle of the PENGUINDRUM, as the asking amount of 10 million yen (US$90,380) was achieved in 150 seconds.

As of writing, the campaign still has 49 days to go and 45,942,442 yen (US$420,178) crowdfunded with 2,117 backers, with the project achieving 459% of the funding goal. The campaign is currently only open to people inside Japan. The official Twitter account (above) has asked for people to wait for a follow-up report about the overwhelming support for the campaign.
Film concept visuals:
RE:cycle of the PENGUINDRUM, a compilation film of the original 2011 TV anime with new elements, will be directed by Kunihiko Ikuhara, with character designs by Lily Hoshino, with the TV animation having being done at BRAIN’S BASE and the theatrical edition by Lapin Track. No words yet on when the film will be released.
