The MTA’s new contactless fare system is live at every subway station in the Bronx, transit officials announced Wednesday.

The system, known as OMNY, lets straphangers pay for single-ride fares using mobile wallets and contactless credit cards. Time-based OMNY cards will be available in the first quarter of 2021.

“Every single farebox and every single turnstile will have an OMNY card reader installed by the end of this year,” MTA Chief Revenue Officer Al Putre said Wednesday during a press event at 167th Street station on the Grand Concourse.

The MTA’s entire 5,800-vehicle bus fleet will also be OMNY-fied by the end of the year.

“As soon as the system is complete, by the end of the year, we will then introduce time-based products,” Putre said.

“Customers will have the ability to end-to-end journey with those time-based cards, so by the end of the year, I would suggest switching to OMNY. It’s just more convenient.”

Sixty percent of subways stations are currently OMNY-enabled, according to the MTA.

Putre said Brooklyn stations on the 2, 3 and 5 lines are next up for upgrades, followed by stops along the Queens Boulevard line.
