Rico Nasty: Nightmare Vacation [Atlantic]

Believe it or not, Nightmare Vacation is Rico Nasty’s debut studio album. It’s been in the works for some time—the rapper first announced the title back in 2019—and it’s her first project since the release of Anger Management with Kenny Beats. The album features appearances by Aminé, Gucci Mane, Don Toliver, and Trippie Redd, in addition to production by Take A Daytrip, 100 gecs, Buddah Bless, and Kenny Beats, among others.

Sigur Rós: Odin’s Raven Magic [Krunk/Warner Classics]

Odin’s Raven Magic is an orchestral collaboration between Sigur Rós, Hilmar Örn Hilmarsson, Steindór Andersen, and Maria Huld Markan Sigfúsdóttir. Originally premiered at the Barbican Centre in London in 2002, the performance takes its name from an ancient Icelandic poem that recounted “a great banquet held by the gods in Valhalla while they were absorbed in their feasting, ominous signs appeared that could foretell the end of the worlds of the gods and men.”

Dezron Douglas / Brandee Younger: Force Majeure [International Anthem]

Throughout months of quarantine, double bassist Dezron Douglas and harpist Brandee Younger have delivered a weekly livestream from their living room in Harlem, performing classics by artists like Pharoah Sanders, Alice and John Coltrane, and Kate Bush. Force Majeure is a collection of the best takes from those live sessions.

We Know the Truth is also Drakeo’s second project of the year, following this summer’s Thank You for Using GTL, which was recorded over the jail phone while he was still incarcerated. Winston C.W.: Good Guess [Whatever’s Clever/Ruination]

Good Guess is the third solo release from Brooklyn-based pianist and singer-songwriter, Office Culture frontman, and former Pitchfork contributor Winston Cook-Wilson, following his 2017 debut Thirty and this year’s covers collection Without a Sail. Cook-Wilson recorded Good Guess live in the studio with upright bassist Carmen Rothwell and electric guitarist Ryan Beckley (both of Scree). Good Guess also caps off a year of solo releases from the Office Culture guys: Drummer Pat Kelly released Creatures in March; guitarist Ian Wayne shared Risking Illness in September; and bassist Charlie Kaplan released Sunday in November.

Lee Paradise: The Fink [Telephone Explosion]

Daniel Lee of Hooded Fang returns to his solo alias Lee Paradise for The Fink, his first album under the moniker since he released his debut Water Palace Kingdom in 2014. The cyborg-funk of the new record was inspired by dystopian concepts and the idea of a near-future “where the sun doesn’t shine and humans have long ceased to be relevant.”
