While it feels as though This Is Us has only just returned for Season 5, the NBC drama is taking a break to catch up with itself (due to COVID-related production delays), which is something most people can relate to.

Sadly, this means fans won’t learn more about the Pearsons until the fifth episode arrives January 5. But a preview of the next episode does offer a glimpse at what fans can expect.

Among the woes ahead are a rough patch for parents-to-be Kevin (Justin Hartley) and Madison (Caitlin Thompson), as well as a flashback reunion between Kate (Hannah Zeile) and her abusive ex, Marc (Austin Abrams).

“A lot of answers when we return. Promise. The @ThisIsUsWriters are on fire and we’re making them as fast (and safely) as humanly possible! I’m very excited about all that comes next,” series creator Dan Fogelman reassured via Twitter.
