Laura Mvula: Pink Noise [Atlantic]

Pink Noise is the third full-length record from British R&B singer Laura Mvula, following 2016’s The Dreaming Room and the 1/f EP she released in March. It’s also her first album for Atlantic. Mvula shared “Church Girl” when she announced the album in March, chasing it with “Safe Passage” and “Got Me.”

G Herbo: 25 [Machine Entertainment Group]

25, the new album from drill rapper G Herbo, arrives a little more than a year after its predecessor, PTSD. Since then, G Herbo has launched a mental health initiative for Black youth and released the singles “Really Like That” and “Break Yoself.” In December, he released the song “Statement,” on which he addressed federal fraud charges levied against him.

Bobby Gillespie / Jehnny Beth: Utopian Ashes [Third Man]

Utopian Ashes is the collaborative album from Primal Scream frontman Bobby Gillespie and Savages’ Jehnny Beth. The 10-song LP features Beth’s frequent collaborator Johnny Hostile and Primal Scream’s Andrew Innes, Martin Duffy, and Darrin Mooney. The record was partially inspired by classic country soul duets, such as George Jones and Tammy Wynette’s We Go Together, and Gram Parsons and Emmylou Harris’ Grievous Angel.

Surf Gang: Surf Gang Vol. 1 [Surf Gang]

The New York City hip-hop collective Surf Gang has released a new 15-song collection to showcase rappers and producers including Polo Perks, Pasto Flocco, Bobainee, Mohbaretta, Casper, JDN, and Harto Falion. It also includes a guest appearance by Babyxsosa.

YN Jay: Coochie Chronicles [Alamo]

Flint, Michigan rapper YN Jay is back with his second full-length of the year. Coochie Chronicles follows January’s Ninja Warrior.
