With so much good music being released all the time, it can be hard to determine what to listen to first. Every week, Pitchfork offers a run-down of significant new releases available on streaming services. This week’s batch includes new albums from Bill Callahan, Lomelda, Big Sean, Tricky, and Galya Bisengalieva. Bill Callahan: Gold Record [Drag City]

There were six years between Bill Callahan’s Dream River and Shepherd in a Sheepskin Vest. Now, a year on from Shepherd, Callahan shares Gold Record, which he’s been previewing with weekly tracks since June. In his Pitchfork review of the album, Mike Powell writes, “If Shepherd’s man was settling down, Gold Record imagines the sweet old codger he may one day become.”

Galya Bisengalieva: Aralkum [One Little Independent]

Kazakh-British violinist/composer and London Contemporary Orchestra leader Galya Bisengalieva named her new album after the Aralkum Desert, an arid region that formed in Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan when the Aral Sea dried up. The record is a concept album about the desiccation of the Aral, divided into three parts: “Pre-Disaster,” “Calamity,” and “Future.”
