Two people died and eight others were seriously injured when a van they were traveling in crashed into a tree in Rockland County on Monday afternoon, police said.
The fatal wreck occurred on New Hempstead Road near Conway Court in Ramapo shortly after 4 p.m., authorities said.
Some of eight surviving victims suffered serious injuries, cops said.
Police didn’t immediately provide the identities of the two vehicle occupants who died.
New Hempstead Road remained closed well into Monday night as police investigated the cause of the crash.
