#16-year-old busted in connection to Bronx murder of 13-year-old: cops

A 16-year-old boy was busted this week in connection to the slaying of a 13-year-old in the Bronx — part of a string of gun violence described by police as “a major gang war.”

The older teen — whose name was not released because he is a minor — was arrested around 10 a.m. Thursday in connection to the July 11 broad-daylight slaying of recent middle school grad Jaryan “Jay Ripp” Elliot on East 187th Street near Prospect Avenue in Belmont, cops said.

He was charged with murder, manslaughter and criminal possession of a firearm, authorities said.

He is affiliated with an unspecified gang and has three prior arrests, for criminal possession of stolen property, grand larceny and robbery, cops said.

Days after Elliot’s murder, cops released a surveillance image of a suspect pointing a firearm as he stood behind a dark Honda Accord with three orange stripes on the hood.

Elliot was slain in retaliation for the death of Tyquill Daugherty, 19, who was shot in the head in front of his home in Crotona at 11:35 p.m. July 7, police sources said.

Elliot was at the scene when Daugherty was shot, although he is not believed to have fired at Daugherty, sources said.

Several hours after Elliot was shot, revenge for his murder was taken on 16-year-old Ramon Gil-Medrano, who was gunned down by two males on scooters a little over a mile away in Mount Hope, sources said.

Gil-Medrano, who was affiliated with the 800 YGz, or “Young Gunnaz,’’ gang, had been at the scene of the 13-year-old’s slaying, although it is not clear if he was responsible for the killing, sources said.
